After being a godmother for the France edition of Star Academy (a show similar to American Idol) last year, Céline will appear live on the 3rd show of the Quebecer edition of the show this Fall. The director of the academy who's responsible for the general coaching of the participants will be René Angélil.
At the end of the month, René will get his own wax statue at the Grévin museum of Paris, right next to Céline's. Still in Paris, it's apparently on May 22nd that Céline will receive her medal of the Legion of Honor (the highest decoration in France) from President Sarkozy.
Céline will celebrate on Wednesday the 20th anniversary of her win at the Eurovision contest, "Ne partez pas sans moi", representing Switzerland.
The singer Garou, managed by René Angélil since his debut a few years ago, has decided to manage himself from now on, a few days only before the release of his first English album.
The current world tour done by Céline is recorded and documented for a DVD to be released later. It's done by the Productions J, as for the Las Vegas show. And the man in charge of that project is another Dion, Jean-Phillipe Dion, from the Granby area.
I just published the lyrics from Céline's upcoming album Taking Chances that will hit the shelves of our stores in a few days. It's a very good album, although it still misses what I'm looking for in an English album... a unified direction. But almost every song is a great song and would make a nice single. A very nice album to start a world tour with.
Céline has been honoured once again yesterday at the World Music Awards... she got the Legend Award, for her outstanding career. She already received in 2004 the Diamond award the best-selling female artist. Céline performed the song Taking chances from her new album of the same title to be released next week.
I'm sorry I haven't published any news while there is so much going on in the Celine world at the moment. I've been away on a long trip to Australia and I've been extremely busy since my return. I'll catch up very soon. Meanwhile, I want to tell you that it's been announced today that Céline will be in Quebec City next year. The date is August 22nd, as part of the celebrations of the 400th anniversary of Quebec City.
Céline's new English album (expected for November 13) would be called Taking Chances.
Two quick little news. It's been confirmed lately that Céline and Kylie Minogue will be the godmothers for Star Academy. Star Academy is a TV program like American Idol in France. We don't know exactly what role they will play, but I imagine they'll at least send videos capsules and probably a visit or two to support the contestants.
The rumours are more and more intense regarding the title of Céline's new album, anticipated for November 13. Apparently, the title chosen is Woman in me, the same title used by Shania Twain in 1995, for her mega-selling album.
